Santa Barbara Polaroids

Leanne and I took a short trip up to Santa Barbara last week to visit friends. I found some expired polaroid in my fridge (well, I shouldn't say found, I knew it was there but ignored it knowing it was 7 years old and most likely no good), grabbed the land camera, and had a blast. The images actually turned out. In fact, they have the commercially-acceptable-much-sought-after vintage look to them. I have three more 20 packs ... so we'll see what I can make of them.

Also, a special congratulations to my cousin Bonnie who just got engaged to her long time beau Cabe!! Awesome news guys! They are planning on a summer 2010 wedding with the ceremony taking place in the Mural Room at the Santa Barbara Courthouse. Absolutely beautiful, we can't wait to capture it for you (although I do expect to drink and dance at some point :).

Ashley + Nick : Crescent Bay, Laguna Beach

They started their day getting ready at the Laguna Beach Inn. The girls suite was absolutely amazing, two story and beautifully decorated (probably bigger than my house!), sorry guys. Then off to a very private ceremony - just their immediate family and wedding party - at Crescent Bay Park over looking the Pacific Ocean. After a generous portrait window, they limo'ed off to dinner, staging their reception for more friends and family the following night at the Mesa Verde Country Club in Costa Mesa.

Congratulations both of you and thanks for giving us so may great photo ops ... the results are fantastic!! Also a special shout out to Leanne's high school french teacher Gina Gruwell, who referred Nick and Asley to us.

Aimme + Sean : Engagement Session Laguna Beach

Amazingly fun couple ... we had a great time wandering around Victoria Beach. The sun was behind the clouds the whole time (not necessarily a bad thing) until the end of the shoot, when it crept out from beneath the cloud cover and glowed brilliantly.

Eleanor Antin: at LACMA

May 14, 2009–October 4, 2009 | Art of the Americas Building

"Classical Frieze is a film and selection of photographs from Eleanor Antin's recent work (2000–2009) recreating the ancient world through the screen of 19th-century neo-classical painting. The installation of her work coincides with the current special exhibitionPompeii and the Roman Villa: Art and Culture around the Bay of Naples."

I was recently afforded the opportunity to see Eleanor Antin speak during an Artist Lecture at Cal State Long Beach. She has amazing and diverse career, everything from performance, video, and more recently, photography. I can't wait to see the show (her prints are huge!).

Sarah + Andy: Album Previews

Leanne just finished up an amazing album for two of the most wonderful people. Their wedding was last August, so it took them a bit of time to select their favorites for the album. It's so nice to see the photos again and breath some new life into them as a timeless, gorgeous, handmade album. We can't wait to see it bound and deliver it to them!

My personal favorite photo ... Andy taking a smoke break while helping his bride adjust her shoes ... classic!!

I'll post pics of the album as a finished product soon.
